Lawn Bowls Nova Scotia is proud to announce Vicki Balcom of the Dartmouth Lawn Bowls Club as the 2025–26 LBNS Senior Female Athlete of the Year!
Vicki topped the 2025 Women’s Provincial Rankings (her second season topping the rankings) and recorded Top 4 finishes in 11 sanctioned events. Her standout season this past year included titles as Provincial Women’s Singles Champion, Provincial 5-A-Side Champion, Atlantic Bowls Pairs Trials Champion, and wins at the Janet Merry Mixed Pairs and Joe Tidd Memorial Open Triples. She represented Nova Scotia at the Canadian Lawn Bowling Championships in Edmonton and Atlantic Bowls Championship in Saint John, earning an Atlantic Bowls Women’s Pairs bronze medal alongside clubmate Ann Marie Siteman. Congratulations Vicki, on another outstanding season! Vicki will be honoured alongside other Provincial Sport Organization’s Senior Female Athlete of the Year recipients from around the province at the 2026 Support4Sport Awards on May 23rd at the Halifax Convention Centre.

Lawn Bowls Nova Scotia is proud to announce John Siteman (Dartmouth/Wanderers LBC) and Raymond MacDonald (Dartmouth LBC) as the 2025–26 LBNS Team of the Year!
John and Raymond captured the Silver Medal at the 2025 Canadian Men’s Pairs Championship in Edmonton, finishing 5-2 in the round robin with wins over top teams from Manitoba, New Brunswick, Ontario, Alberta, and British Columbia. In the playoffs, they earned an impressive 11-7 win over Alberta (represented by two current National Team members and former Commonwealth Games representatives) on the live streamed rink in the semifinal before falling to Quebec 13-6 in the final. Their run showcased outstanding skill and determination against Canada’s top competition and showed why they are one of the top teams in the country. Congratulations John and Raymond on an incredible 2025 season! The duo will be honoured alongside other Provincial Sport Organization’s Team of the Year recipients from around the province at the 2026 Support4Sport Awards on May 23rd at the Halifax Convention Centre. Lawn Bowls Nova Scotia are excited to announce that the winner of the 2025-26 LBNS Community Sport Organization of the Year is HRM Pride Bowls.
Founded in 2024 to introduce lawn bowls to the 2SLGBTQIA+ community and other underrepresented groups in sport, HRM Pride Bowls continued their incredible growth in 2025- expanding to roughly 50 members across our member clubs. They hosted jitneys, training sessions, 2 tournaments and took part in the Halifax Pride Parade, followed by Try Lawn Bowls event at the Wanderers Lawn Bowls Club to welcome new participants. Their efforts led to increased participation by their members in club and provincial competitions across Nova Scotia and beyond. With a vision to grow locally and inspire Pride Bowls groups across Canada, their impact continues to rise. Congratulations to HRM Pride Bowls on all your organization’s successes during the past year. An official for 5 seasons, Daniel has become a highly respected member of the officiating community- serving as an umpire at both local and provincial competitions. He approaches every event with professionalism and preparation, ensuring play runs smoothly and communicates well with the players and organizers to ensure this. Daniel is also great for sharing his knowledge and helping others across the sport better understand the rules of the game. Congratulations and thank you, Daniel, for your dedication to the sport! Lawn Bowls Nova Scotia is proud to announce Sue Ellen Horne of the Dartmouth Lawn Bowls Club as the 2025-26 LBNS Coach of the Year!
A coach for 9 years and now serving as DLBC Training & Development Chair, Sue Ellen has been a driving force behind player development at her club. In 2024, she launched the popular “New Bowler Night,” creating a welcoming space for first and second year players specifically to learn about the core concepts of the sport through structured training, drills, and guided gameplay- supporting both skill growth and long-term retention. Now expanded to Tuesday nights, the program continues to grow while introducing new players to the core concepts of the sport. Sue Ellen has also played a key role in community outreach, helping introduce lawn bowls to a wide range of groups. Congratulations and thank you Sue Ellen for your outstanding dedication to coaching! Sue Ellen will be honoured alongside other Provincial Sport Organization’s Coach of the Year recipients from around the province at the 2026 Support4Sport Awards on May 23rd at the Halifax Convention Centre. Lawn Bowls Nova Scotia is proud to announce Tim Brennan of the Wanderers Lawn Bowls Club as the 2025-26 LBNS Volunteer of the Year!
During his 8 years as Wanderers LBC Vice President from 2018 to 2025, Tim (pictured barbecuing in the photo) played a key role in strengthening club operations and raising its public profile. Drawing on his professional experience, he modernized administration and built strong relationships and partnerships with local government and with community organizations like HFX Wanderers FC, Halifax Tides FC, Halifax Sport and Social Club, and many more. Beyond leadership, Tim has been a hands-on volunteer- serving as an instructor, event organizer, and the club’s “Chief Barbequer,” while driving new initiatives to grow participation and engagement. Congratulations and thank you Tim, for your dedication and impact in growing the game and modernizing the image of how we promote the sport! Tim will be honoured alongside other Provincial Sport Organization’s Volunteer of the Year recipients from around the province at the 2026 Support4Sport Awards on May 23rd at the Halifax Convention Centre.
