It was an outstanding conclusion to the 2024 Provincial Men’s Singles Championship today at the Wanderers Lawn Bowling Club. Congratulations to Steve Bezanson on winning this year’s title in a thrilling 21-17 win over his longtime teammate Steve Ogden in the Gold Medal Game. In the Bronze Medal Game, it was Mark Singer who picked up 3rd place in a 21-17 win over Rick Fry. Thanks to all the volunteers who helped make this weekend a great success- from our umpires Joan MacDonald and Paul Knox to our many markers from both Wanderers and Dartmouth to the many spectators who cheered on the competitors all event. With lots of great games all weekend long- it made for an entertaining finale to our provincial championship competitions for this season. Congratulations to all the players who put on a great show all weekend long in front of a great crowd in Halifax.

It was an exciting day at the Dartmouth Lawn Bowls Club as the 2024 Provincial Women’s Singles Championship finals were played. Congratulations to Vicki Balcom on winning this year’s championship- defeating her teammate Ann Marie Siteman 21-7 in the final. In the 3rd Place Game, congratulations to Joyce Anderson who battled back to win 21-20 over Charmaine Cameron to pick up the bronze. Thanks to the many volunteers who helped make this weekend a success and to Dartmouth for hosting. Also, special thanks to many of you from around the world who tuned into our live streamed coverage throughout the weekend (where we had viewers from all over Canada and even Australia, New Zealand, India and beyond!). Our next Provincial event is the Provincial Men’s Singles Championship next weekend (September 28th-29th) at the Wanderers Lawn Bowling Club. Entries close tonight- so get your entries in ASAP! Also, if you’re interested in marking at this event- send us a message! It was an awesome day of lawn bowls in Bridgetown as the 31st Annual E.W. “Silver Fox” Foster Open Pairs hit the greens in the valley. Played in honour of longtime bowler and former Canadian Champion Bill Foster- the competition had an awesome field of 16 teams from across Nova Scotia and PEI battling it out for top honours. Congratulations to Debby Purdy and Mayumi Endo on winning this year’s title- defeating defending champions Dave Veinot and Jackie Foster 10-7 in a hard fought final right to the last bowl. In the 3rd place game, it was the PEI father and daughter duo of Scott Spence and Amy Spence who finished in the bronze medal position with a 14-7 win over Charles Stock and Gerald Hackenschmidt. Thanks to the crew in Bridgetown for putting on another excellent event from the match crew to the greens crew and the awesome lunch put on by the kitchen crew. Our next event on the LBNS calendar is the 2024 Provincial Women’s Singles Championship- to be held September 21st-22nd at the Dartmouth Lawn Bowls Club. Make sure to get your entries in as the deadline for that event is tomorrow (Sunday September 15th). What a Finals Day at the 2024 Atlantic Bowls Championship! The sun was shining and the action across the greens was top notch. Congratulations to Team Nova Scotia- the winners of the Sid Currie Trophy for the Top Provincial Team of the event with an awesome 103 points! It was a great weekend at the Wanderers Lawn Bowls Club in Halifax as the 2024 edition of the Jack Robar Memorial Men’s Triples took to the greens. In the final, it was the Dartmouth combo of John Siteman, Raymond MacDonald and Gordon Foster who took out this year’s title with a nail biting 11-9 win over the Wanderers/Bedford combo of Chris Cooper, Don Murchy and Kevin Stewart. In the 3rd place game, it was the Wanderers trio of Matt Sebastian, Hal Jones and Mike LeBlanc who took out the final spot on the podium with a 12-5 win over Mark Singer, Mark Robar and Eric Veinot. Thanks to all the teams who competed throughout the weekend who put on a great show, to the Wanderers Lawn Bowling Club volunteers led by Robar and Singer for organizing and to the greens crew for having the surface in tip top shape for the event. Up next on the LBNS calendar, all eyes head to the other side of the harbour as Team Nova Scotia competes in the 2024 Atlantic Bowls Championship. |
