It was an exciting weekend of lawn bowls in Dartmouth as the Memorial Mixed Triples took to the carpet. 8 teams battled it out in the main LBNS Provincial Championship for mixed competition and play was fierce right to the final bowl.
In the A final, it was a battle of Dartmouth as John Siteman, Ann Marie Siteman and Richard Cobb (the 2nd place seed with a 4-0 record) faced off with Steve Ogden, Rick Fry and Vicki Balcom (the 4th place seed with a 2-2 record) for the title. After a 3 point start to the first end for Team Siteman, Ogden went on a 9 point run to open up the game and never looked back- taking out the title with a 23-5 win. In the B final, it was a nail biting game as Dennis Mullane, Linda Deveau and Vicki Jo Bowden faced off with Debbie Tower, Mike LeBlanc and Karen Church. After rushing out to a 10-1 start, Tower rallied with 9 points in the second half. In the end, it was a single point in the 12th end which helped Team Mullane maintain the lead and get over the line to take out the 3rd place spot. Thanks to the Dartmouth Lawn Bowls Club (including Match Chair Debby Purdy, the kitchen staff and the many volunteers who helped make the event a success. The next events on the schedule brings us up to Truro for the Cobequid Open Triples on Saturday followed by the Wanderers Mix and Match Pairs back in Halifax on Sunday.
