It was an awesome day of lawn bowls in Bridgetown as the 31st Annual E.W. “Silver Fox” Foster Open Pairs hit the greens in the valley. Played in honour of longtime bowler and former Canadian Champion Bill Foster- the competition had an awesome field of 16 teams from across Nova Scotia and PEI battling it out for top honours. Congratulations to Debby Purdy and Mayumi Endo on winning this year’s title- defeating defending champions Dave Veinot and Jackie Foster 10-7 in a hard fought final right to the last bowl. In the 3rd place game, it was the PEI father and daughter duo of Scott Spence and Amy Spence who finished in the bronze medal position with a 14-7 win over Charles Stock and Gerald Hackenschmidt. Thanks to the crew in Bridgetown for putting on another excellent event from the match crew to the greens crew and the awesome lunch put on by the kitchen crew. Our next event on the LBNS calendar is the 2024 Provincial Women’s Singles Championship- to be held September 21st-22nd at the Dartmouth Lawn Bowls Club. Make sure to get your entries in as the deadline for that event is tomorrow (Sunday September 15th).
