Siteman & MacDonald Win Canadian Pairs Silver! Team NS Wraps Up Play in Edmonton

It was an outstanding finale to the 2025 Canadian Lawn Bowling Championships in Edmonton, Alberta for Team Nova Scotia on Saturday including a big silver medal!
In the Men’s Pairs, the team of John Siteman and Raymond MacDonald went on a huge run in the tournament- going 5-2 in the round robin (including a big 3 wins over Ontario, Alberta and British Columbia respectively) to qualify for the playoff rounds. In the semifinals, they faced off against the Alberta duo of Greg Wilson and Rob Law (both of whom represented Canada at the Commonwealth Games and World Bowls Championship). In a tight battle featured on the Bowls Canada Boulingrin live streaming, the outstanding teamwork and strong draw play led our Nova Scotians to an 11-8 win. In the final, they faced off against the powerhouse Quebec duo of Ryan Craig and Marco Veillieux. The game was tight the whole way with bigtime plays from both sides, but in the end- it ended off with a Quebec win 13-6 and a Silver Medal for our Nova Scotians.
In the other events, Team Nova Scotia performed exceptionally well but missed out on the playoffs in each discipline. Some highlights to note was a valiant title defence for the Women’s Fours quartet of Tammy Foster-Veinot, Jackie Foster, Ann Marie Siteman and Lorraine Bezanson (going 4-3 with three nailbiter tight losses), an excellent performance for Vicki Balcom in the Women’s Singles where she took many of the top Women’s Singles players in the country right to the limit (including a tiebreak against the eventual champion Joanna Cooper of Alberta in the final round robin session) and a great perseverance performance from the Men’s Triples trio of Grahame Usher, Jordan Gailey and Kevin Stewart who put in a strong showing against a top class field of talent.
LBNS would like to extend a huge thank you to Jordan Gailey of Saskatchewan- who joined our Nova Scotia Men’s Triples squad to spare for Terry O’Neil who was unable to attend due to the Air Canada strike. Jordan had come to be a spectator at the championship- but immediately jumped at the opportunity to help when this extraordinary situation came into play that affected many of the teams in one way or another. You’ll always be an honourary Nova Scotian representative and we appreciate your hard work throughout the event alongside our team. Since he isn’t on Facebook, we look forward to personally extending this thank you in the near future.
Congratulations to the whole team who battled it out for Nova Scotia in Edmonton (Men- John Siteman, Raymond MacDonald, Grahame Usher, Kevin Stewart and Jordan Gailey, Women- Tammy Foster-Veinot, Jackie Foster, Ann Marie Siteman, Lorraine Bezanson and Vicki Balcom). You all represented Nova Scotia with pride and hopefully you made memories that will last a lifetime!
