It was an exciting weekend of bowls at the Bedford Lawn Bowls Club as after a pandemic delay, the 2021 Janet Merry Mixed Pairs was played! Played in honour of the late Janet Merry (who was a trailblazing athlete and volunteer in both lawn bowls and curling), 12 teams took to the greens in search of this year’s crown. This afternoon (on what would have been Janet Merry’s 93rd birthday), the final games were played for the trophy and prize money. In the Gold Medal Game, the 2016 Champions Braeden Campbell and Tammy Foster-Veinot defeated the 2019 Champions Jackie Foster and Mike Stewart to take home the trophy. In the 3rd Place game, Cameron LeFresne and Lena Cameron defeated Rick Burrows and Heather Salmon to take the final podium position. Congratulations to all the top 4 money winners (and all the participating teams) on putting on an excellent show! Thanks to Peter Boudreau and the team at Bedford for putting on an excellent event! Up next on the LBNS schedule, we head to the Wanderers Lawn Bowls Club in Halifax next weekend for the Jack Robar Memorial Men’s Triples!
