Definitely a great day of bowls in Truro as 10 teams from around the Maritimes battled it out in the Cobequid Lawn Bowls Club's Open Pairs tournament! Congratulations to Cameron LeFresne and Jackie Foster who returned to the tournament to defend their title won during the 2019 edition (the last edition of this tournament before the pandemic resulted in the cancellation of the 2020 and 2021 editions). Thanks to Cobequid for hosting a great event! Up next on the LBNS Provincial Schedule, we head to the Bedford Lawn Bowls Club for the Late Owl Mixed Fours!

It was an exciting weekend at the Dartmouth Lawn Bowls Club as we closed out our Provincial Championship season for 2022 with the Men’s and Women’s Singles Provincial Championship! In the Men’s Singles, it was Steve Bezanson who defeated John Siteman to win the Men’s Singles title 21-6. Today in the Silver Medal Game, it was Bezanson’s Canadian Championship teammate Steve Ogden who took the silver medal defeating Siteman 21-4. In the Women’s Singles- it was Charmaine Cameron who captured her first Provincial Singles title, defeating Debby Purdy 21-14 in the Women’s Singles final. In the Silver Medal Game, Nancy Latimer booked her ticket to the Nationals with a nailbiter 21-16 win over Purdy. All three medalists in both Men’s and Women’s Singles have earned their spot into the Canadian Singles Championship- to be held next August (host is still to be announced). Thanks to Dartmouth for hosting and to all the volunteers who worked hard to make this weekend a success! Up next on the provincial schedule- we head back to Bridgetown for the Joe Tidd Memorial Open Triples while our Team Nova Scotia reps start their September Championship run up in Montreal at the Atlantic Bowls Championship. |
