It was a fun day at the Bridgetown Lawn Bowling Club as they hosted a Bowls Canada Boulingrin National Team Evaluation Camp. The camp gave athletes who had applied for Team Canada the opportunity to show their skills in a wide variety of drills, games and team play. Thanks to BCB Regional Coach Tammy Foster-Veinot for putting on an excellent day of development and skill building for these athletes aiming for international futures in our sport. Good luck to all of the athletes as they continue through the selection process on the road to the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Bendigo, Victoria, Australia.

Up next on the LBNS calendar has bowlers headed off to the Valley for the Joe Tidd Memorial Open Triples at the Bridgetown Lawn Bowls Club on July 8th. It’s now been just over a week since John and Ann Marie Siteman returned from competing in the 2023 Australian Open! We both would like to thank everyone for following along in the posts as we battled it out in our 6th Australian Open. Here are some highlights of the trip. If you’re looking at a great opportunity to test your skills in the sport at the highest level while having an awesome vacation too- definitely think about making your way to the Gold Coast in June 2024 for next year’s event. Any questions or need any advice?- we’re here to support any Canadians as they make their way for the World’s Largest Bowls Festival! We're excited to announce that Bowls Canada Boulingrin has awarded the 2023 Canadian Mixed Pairs Championship to the Wanderers Lawn Bowling Club! The event is scheduled to take place September 12-16, 2023 on their historic greens at the Wanderers Grounds. The event will be co-chaired by Lena Cameron and Ann Marie Siteman. As many of you know, Wanderers was scheduled to host the Canadian Mixed Pairs in 2020 before the pandemic hit- so their members are super excited to be welcoming back bowlers from across Canada to Halifax for what should be a great week of championship bowls. Stay tuned for more details as they look forward to making this year's Canadian Mixed Pairs a huge success. It was a special night this past Saturday night in Bridgetown as there was a special mention for lawn bowls as part of the Bridgetown Area Sports Hall of Fame 2022 Induction Night. As part of their ceremony, they recognized the successes of our provincial team at the 2022 Canadian Championships in Burlington with our two gold medals and one silver medal (the best medal haul in Nova Scotian bowls history at the Majors). With five of our representatives coming from the Bridgetown Lawn Bowling Club- it was a special night to celebrate our sport’s success in 2022 at Majors. Congratulations everyone! Check this out! In Friday’s session of the Nova Scotia Legislature, Claudia Chender (the MLA for Dartmouth South- the electoral district which the Dartmouth Lawn Bowls Club is in) recognized the members of the DLBC who won medals for Nova Scotia at the 2022 Canadian Lawn Bowling Championships. She particularly noted Steve Ogden’s success of becoming a 5 time Canadian Men’s Pairs Champion and Team Campbell having 3 bowlers aged 25 years old or younger and “breaking down the age barrier in sport”. Thanks Ms. Chender for recognizing our Team Nova Scotia success in the House! Definitely a great day of bowls in Truro as 10 teams from around the Maritimes battled it out in the Cobequid Lawn Bowls Club's Open Pairs tournament! Congratulations to Cameron LeFresne and Jackie Foster who returned to the tournament to defend their title won during the 2019 edition (the last edition of this tournament before the pandemic resulted in the cancellation of the 2020 and 2021 editions). Thanks to Cobequid for hosting a great event! Up next on the LBNS Provincial Schedule, we head to the Bedford Lawn Bowls Club for the Late Owl Mixed Fours!
